FCRA Registration is mandatory for any NGO, trust, society, or non-profit company in India that wishes to receive foreign contributions or donations. It ensures that foreign funds are used legally and for the intended developmental, cultural, economic, or educational purposes.
The registration is governed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010.

Types of FCRA Registration
FCRA Permanent Registration
- For organizations with at least 3 years of existence and proven track record of activities.
- Must have spent a minimum of ₹15 lakh in the last 3 years towards its core activities.
FCRA Prior Permission
- For newly registered NGOs wishing to receive funds from a specific donor for a specific purpose.
- Must specify donor, amount, and intended use of funds.
